It has become a nice tradition at the Wildau Institute of Technology (WIT) to say farewell to our graduates on the last weekeend of November. This is the time, when the old year is slowly coming to an end and the new one is getting closer. It is a time when many of us look back at the last months and anticipate the coming ones with hope, optimism and expectations. The graduation is also a good reason to pause and look back.
After a two-year break due to the Corona pandemic, we were this year all the more pleased to celebrate graduation again on campus of Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau. A total of 64 students from eleven countries graduated in the years 2020, 2021 and 2022 in Aviation Management, Library Information Science and Business Administration from WIT and we were very happy to welcome many of them on the occasion of the graduation ceremony.
Thanks to the library staff and Dr Frank Seeliger, its director, the graduation ceremony once again took place at the reading lounge of the library. This also allowed us to invite the pianist Andreas Sutyka in order to accompany the evening with some grand piano tunes by Haydn and Tchaikovsky.
Professor Andreas Hotes, executive board chairman of the WIT and course spokesperson of Aviation Management, welcomed our guests of the evening – graduates and their familiy members, lecturers and alumni. In their speeches, Professor Hotes as well as Dr Frank Seeliger, course spokesperson of Library Information Science, acknowledged the perseverance, endurance, courage, diligence and discipline with which our graduates had managed to complete their studies alongside work and family and other commitments. Husna Syed gave a speech on behalf of the Aviation Management 2018 course, whereas Tobias Feistauer delivered a speech on behalf of the Aviation Management 2019 course.
The most exciting and long awaited moment of the evening was the presentation of the Masters‘ degree certificates by Professor Ulrike Tippe, President of Technical University Wildau. Before she handed out the certificates, she recognised the achievements and accomplishment of the graduates who have mastered their studies in a part-time mode. Afterwards, the fresh graduates received congratulations and small presents from WIT team and board. The official part of the eving was followed by an informal and cozy dinner at the Studierendenklub „StuK“.
Andreas Hotes closed his speech with the following thought: „The motto of our institute is: ‚Let WIT take you further‘. The wings of WIT have taken you a long way in the past years, both professionally and on the level of personal maturation. We wish you that these wings will continue to carry you further on your professional and private paths in the future.“ And so, on behalf of team, lecturers and board of Wildau Instiute of Technology, we wish our graduates all the best and much success and and hope that they will keep both their graduation and their entire studies in good memory.
