Dr. Reinhold Buttgereit

"Today’s expert is hopelessly lost if he cannot articulate his ideas and arguments in such a way that they are intelligible to the non-specialist. It is also important for experts within their own peer group to focus on the key essentials of what they want to impart! For this reason communication skills are rightly given the utmost importance within the WIT study programme."

What is our aim?

The Wildau Institute of Technology (WIT e.V.) is an institute of further education at higher university level. Its target group comprises managers and junior employees with a bachelor’s or diploma degree in engineering, business administration or social sciences who wish to pursue a career and aim for leading executive positions in international groups and growing medium enterprises or who want to set up their own business.

Who are we?

The WIT is affiliated to the University of Applied Sciences Wildau (TH Wildau - Technische Hochschule Wildau (FH)). The university in Wildau follows in the tradition of the former engineering school on the site, which trained engineers to recognised professional qualifications. The works school, founded in 1949, played a key role in mechanical engineering in the region. In 1991 the federal state of Brandenburg founded the University of Applied Sciences Wildau. The TH Wildau is now one of the biggest universities of applied sciences in Brandenburg with more than 3500 students. It offers a wide range of first degree programmes in direct study and distance learning programmes. Several further education programmes are offered as well via distance learning courses.
The modern and future-oriented range of degrees at the university includes courses in various areas of business, administration and engineering. It is the only university in the whole of Germany to offer telematics and also the only university of applied sciences with a degree in bioinformatics/biosystems technology. Recently a new degree in aviation engineering/aviation logistics was introduced – an important step in a region where aviation is coming to play an increasingly significant role in the economy.

The University of Applied Sciences Wildau is a university that sets trends, offering practical degree programmes and playing an active role in research and technology transfer. It has close cooperation partners in industry, business and education in Germany, Eastern Europe, Western Europe and also in South-East Asia. The university concentrates on direct contacts and close cooperation with business in both teaching and applied research. It has also been highly successful in gaining external funding, occupying the top rank of all German universities of applied sciences.

In 2004 the University of Applied Science Wildau started to set up a new institute - the Wildau Institute of Technology (WIT e.V.). It was finally founded in February 2005 and offers international study programmes for the global market.

Where are we?

Map WIT The University of Applied Sciences Wildau is located very close to Germany's capital city, Berlin, which is easy to reach from Wildau by public transport.

The campus lies on an industrial complex where in 1897 the Schwartzkopff company established a locomotive works and built a workers housing complex that is today a listed building. In the region around Wildau numerous technology and business parks have been set up in recent years, with service industries and logistics centres, energy, aviation and environmental technology companies. The University of Applied Sciences Wildau works in close cooperation with many of them.
